Reports say the Osun state deputy governor, Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori visited and prayed with the late Ekiti state deputy governor, Olufunmilayo Olayinka a few hours before she gave up the ghost.
Laoye-Tomori was said to have disguised herself and went to the hospital without her security detail to pray with late Olayinka with some of her family members present.
She was, however, surprised when she got a call later on Saturday evening during a meeting with the Osun governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that her Ekiti state counterpart has died.
A source said, “She was not herself any longer. She went straight to the governor and left the meeting. She was already sweating before she left. She looked blank, sat and got up from her seat many times.
“The pain was too much for her because of the closeness between her and the late deputy governor. Apart from being a deputy governor like her, they both related as good friends, and most times, as daughter and mother.
“Till now, she has put on hold many programmes because she is still grieving the loss. She could not even go to the Easter programme which she was scheduled to attend recently in Osogbo, the state capital.”
During a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, she wrote in the condolence register: “Indeed, the news got to me as a cruel, rude and painful shock… there was nothing to suggest that Olufunmilayo would be leaving so soon.”
Olayinka died in a Lagos medical facility after a long battle with cancer.
